PPRA PRESENTS NeST SYSTEM PERFORMANCE REPORT TO THE PARLIAMENTARY LOCAL AUTHORITIES ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE (LAAC)

The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has presented the Performance Research Report of the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST) to the Parliamentary Local Authorities Accounts Committee (LAAC) at the Parliamentary premises of the United Republic of Tanzania in Dodoma, January 22, 2026.

The report, submitted by the Chairperson of the PPRA Board of Directors, Professor Leonarda Mwagike, highlighted that the implementation of the NeST system has achieved significant successes in enhancing compliance with public procurement laws and procedures, expanding access to value-for-money opportunities, ensuring transparency and fairness for Tanzanian bidders, and strengthening the management of the public procurement sector nationwide.

Speaking before the Committee, PPRA Director General, Mr. Dennis Simba, stated that the NeST system has contributed significantly to cost savings by reducing the printing of bidding documents. He also noted that the system has minimized environmental impact by eliminating paper waste and reduced unnecessary travel for bidders who previously had to submit documents physically.

Mr. Simba added that since the system’s launch, special groups including youth, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities have successfully secured contracts valued at over TZS 32 billion, demonstrating the system’s contribution to enhancing participation, equity, and inclusivity in public procurement.

For his part, the LAAC Committee Chairperson, Hon. Ado Shaibu, on behalf of the Committee, commended PPRA for the development and effective management of the NeST system. He emphasized the importance of PPRA continuing to provide education and training to all public procurement stakeholders on the Public Procurement Act and the proper use of the NeST system to further improve efficiency and accountability in the sector.
