PPRA Director General Encourages Women Taxpayers to Utilize Tender Opportunities through NeST
The Director General of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Mr. Dennis Simba, has encouraged women taxpayers to actively participate in public procurement opportunities through the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST) in order to benefit from the economic opportunities created by government spending.
Mr. Simba made the call while delivering a presentation during the Women and Taxation Forum organized by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), held on March 6, 2026 in Dar es Salaam. The forum brought together approximately 1,000 women entrepreneurs and taxpayers.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Simba noted that the Government allocates a significant annual procurement budget which creates opportunities for various groups of Tanzanians, particularly women, youth, the elderly and persons with disabilities through special preference schemes.
“Government remains the largest source of capital through public procurement opportunities. Every year, approximately five trillion shillings are allocated for special groups, including women. This presents an important opportunity for you to access capital and grow your businesses. I encourage you to register in the NeST System and actively participate in government tenders,” said Mr. Simba.
He further noted that many women have already benefited financially through government procurement opportunities, citing examples of some successful women entrepreneurs who attended the forum as inspiration for others.
Mr. Simba also encouraged participants to visit PPRA Zonal Offices and the Authority’s Headquarters to obtain more information and training on the NeST System and the Public Procurement Act.
The forum was officiated by the Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Yusuph Mwenda, who urged women taxpayers to maintain tax compliance while also taking advantage of economic opportunities provided by the Government, including public procurement opportunities.
