The government has set aside funds amounting to 186 bn/- for implementing power projects and construction of 67 district hospitals countrywide, TPJ has learnt.

Deputy Minister for Energy Subira Mgalu told Parliament recently that the Government would spend 185.5bn/- on implementing power project in Kigoma Region, whereby the region would be connected to the national grid through  a 370-kilometre 132 KV transmission line through Tabora - Kidawe  Kigoma - Urambo and Ngaruka.

According to her, the project, which would be implemented between March 2019 to June 2020,  would be funded by World Bank and African Development Bank.

The deputy minister further said that the government had started to implement the Malagarasi River hydroelectricity project which, upon completion, would be able to produce 45MW.

On the other hand, Deputy Minister in the President's Office - Regional Administration and Local Government Joseph Kandege, told Parliament that the Government has also set aside 100.5bn/- for construction of district hospitals, health centres as well as for rehabilitation of various health facilities in the country. 

The deputy minister also called on district authorities to prioritize procurement of ambulances for health centres in their areas.
