Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has said force account, when used appropriately, has proven itself to be a well-suited procurement method in the implementation of public projects.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone of a health centre at Chela Ward, Kahama District in Shinyanga Region recently, Mr. Majaliwa noted that the project had been implemented well and commended the village construction committee and district council staff for choosing to use that particular method of procurement.

"The buildings have cost TZS 400 million…congratulations to you wananchi and construction committee for a job well done,” he said adding that the excellent results were also testimony to the honesty of the committee members and staff.

The Prime Minister said a number of councils in the country have been using force account method instead of hiring contractors in order to cut down on costs and to ensure timely implementation of projects.

He said the Government had so far constructed 108 health centres and that plans were underway to construct 68 more centres during the current financial year.

According to PM the health centres have been allocated TZS 500 million each to procure furniture and other amenities.
