Tanzania will be hosting the 8th International Public Procurement Conference (IPPC) at AICC in Arusha this year, TPJ has learnt.

The conference, to be held from 8 to 10 August under the theme Public Procurement in a Global Environment: Past, Present and Future Developments, is expected to attract about one thousand procurement practitioners and academics from around the world, according to the chairperson of the conference’s national organising committee, Dr. Fredrick Mwakibinga.

Speaking to reporters in Dar as Salaam recently, Dr. Mwakibinga said it was a great honor for Tanzania to be given the privilege of hosting the biennial conference, deemed the biggest public procurement event, which is being held in Africa for the first time.

The event will bring together public procurement professionals, researchers, policy makers, regulators and stakeholders from around the world for the sake of exchanging experience and knowledge,” said Dr. Mwakibinga.

He invited public and private institutions wishing to participate in the event to get all the relevant information from the website of the Ministry of Finance and Planning and from institutions that handle public procurement issues, including Public Procurement Policy Division, Public Procurement Regulatory Authority, Public Procurement Appeals Authority, Government Procurement Services Agency, Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board and Institute of Accountancy Arusha.

IPPC is a global network of public procurement practitioners and researchers from over 100 countries whose objective is to advance and share knowledge and best practices in public procurement.
