The Minister for Finance, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, has directed the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority to ensure integration of the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST) with GPSA Integrated Management Information System (GIMIS), TPJ can report.

This came to light during the official launch of the GIMIS system at the Kambarage Hall in Dodoma, when Dr. Mwigulu highlighted both the need and urgency  of integrating NeST and GIMIS, which enables various government entities, including ministries, public agencies, regional offices, and district councils to access Government Procurement Services Agency’s offerings.

Dr. Mwigulu underscored the broader context of President Samia Suluhu Hassan's commitment to foster interconnectedness among government systems as well as the importance of aligning other pertinent systems with GIMIS, which is poised to enhance operational efficiency within the agency.

Furthermore, the finance minister commended GPSA for its notable achievements, including the successful completion of the system and the establishment of modern fuel stations in strategic locations such as Songwe, Simiyu, Pwani, and Dodoma - accomplishments that are anticipated to not only boost government revenue but also to enhance efficiency of the public service sector.

Earlier, the Minister of State in the President's Office (Public Service Management and Good Governance), George Simbachawene, had confirmed that GIMIS has already been seamlessly connected with the government's central system, enabling efficient data exchange.

According to Simbachawene, several public institutions have already begun using the system, notably within the Government Electronic Payment Gateway (GePG) and the Government Resource Management System and that efforts are in place to provide integration with other government systems in alignment with data sharing requirements.

TPJ understands that GIMIS is set to offer a variety of services that encompass procurement of office equipment, vehicle fuel, as well as the management of government cargo handling and discharge activities at strategic locations such as seaports, airports, and border areas.
